Tips When Hiring Vendors For Your Wedding

It is always important to make sure the vendor you choose for your wedding is the right fit, but sometimes you don’t even know where to start.  Here are some of the most important things to look for when hiring each major wedding industry vendor.

Wedding Planner

  • Hiring a wedding planner should be the first decision you make in the wedding planning process, because a wedding planner will be able to save you money on the other vendors you will need to hire through their connections in the industry
  • When starting your search you should check out their website to start out with to make sure their style in recent weddings they have done fit with what you are looking for in your wedding, if you don’t like their website or style then move on to the next choice
  • You must be able to communicate openly your ideas for the wedding with the planner so they will be able to give you the wedding of your dreams

Hiring Vendors For Your Wedding

  • mistakes to avoid when hiring photographer
    • overlooking photographer’s personality
    • prioritizing products over photography
    • expecting pro results from an amateur photographer
  • tips when hiring
    • first off look at the photographer’s website and a wedding they shot from start to finish to get the feel for their style, if aren’t feeling it then move on
    • make sure that they have shot a wedding similar to yours such as in the season your will be in, as to see if they have not just shot weddings in one area or a certain time of the year
    • Once you decided if you like the photographer do a test shot, an engagement photo is always a great way to test out if the fit is right

Videographer

  • some questions should ask before hiring
    • Describe your style
    • how did you get started filming, how long have you been in the wedding filming business
    • What input can we give you to make this experience a great fit for us both
    • will there be more than one camera shooting at a time
    • have you ever worked with my photographer before

Florist

  • Start looking for florist at least seven months before wedding if not sooner
  • When meeting with your final contenders you should give them the full picture of your wedding everything from pictures of your dress and bridesmaids dresses to color scheme and how everyone in wedding party will wear their hair
  • Once you have given them your picture of the wedding they will give you their opinion on the types and colors of flowers to incorporate and you can give them your feedback on their first suggestions.  you should look for a florist that will communicate with you back and forth as to make sure you can recieving exactly what you pictured for your big day

Wedding cake vendor

  • Should order cake three to six months in advance
  • Bring visuals to meeting so baker can see the style of wedding you are going for so the cake won’t be out of place
  • Should know how many guests at time of this meeting so the baker will know what size cake should be
  • Make sure you are ready for the price to exceed your typical price range for a cake, the typical cake costs between $2-$20 per slice depending on intensity of design
